The Conni Ingallina PCFR Internship
for ASU Students
The Conni Ingallina PCFR Internship offers undergraduate students at Arizona State University the opportunity to gain hands-on professional experience with Arizona’s premier global affairs organization.
Interns work alongside the PCFR team on projects that directly support the organization’s programs, membership engagement, development, communications, and marketing efforts while gaining exposure to Arizona’s international affairs community.
The internship is offered twice each academic year, with one intern selected for the fall semester and one for the spring semester. Applicants must be currently enrolled as undergraduate students at Arizona State University.
Students must also be eligible to work off campus for compensation or be able to receive academic credit for their participation in the internship.
Throughout the semester, interns will have opportunities to attend PCFR programs and interact with members and distinguished speakers from the fields of diplomacy, government, business, academia, journalism, and international affairs.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative, and globally minded student with a strong interest in international affairs and nonprofit leadership. Because the position involves regular interaction with PCFR members, partners, and distinguished speakers from around the world, interns are expected to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
The internship reports directly to PCFR’s Director of Operations and works closely with PCFR staff across programs and organizational initiatives.
Time Commitment
Interns should expect to dedicate approximately 5–10 hours per week to the internship, including event support, meetings, and independent projects. Weekly hours may vary depending on PCFR’s program calendar.
Interns are expected to support the PCFR team for at least 75% of in-person programs and events taking place during their internship semester.
Because portions of the internship may be completed remotely, interns must have access to a computer, reliable Wi-Fi, and a phone. Familiarity with platforms such as Google Workspace, Zoom, Canva, and other digital tools is preferred.
Internship Responsibilities
Selected interns will have the opportunity to:

Support PCFR programs and events. Work directly with PCFR staff to assist with event preparation and execution and help provide a high-quality experience for PCFR members, speakers, partners, and guests.

Support membership engagement. Engage with PCFR members and guests at events, including gathering feedback, testimonials, and quotes that can be used to highlight the impact of PCFR programming.

Develop an international affairs program pitch. Research and propose an international relations topic for a potential PCFR program. The proposal should identify three potential local speakers, explain the topic, and demonstrate why it is timely and relevant to both PCFR and the Arizona community.

Engage with the PCFR community. Take advantage of opportunities to meet and learn from PCFR members and speakers and develop professional connections within Arizona’s international affairs community.
Through these responsibilities, interns will contribute directly to PCFR’s mission of growing Arizona’s global prominence by providing forums that explore critical foreign policy issues and build enduring international connections.
Fall 2026 Internship
Applications for the Fall 2026 Conni Ingallina PCFR Internship are open through October 9, 2026.
For this semester only: The Fall internship will run from October 19 through December 18, 2026.
Spring 2027 Internship
Applications for the Spring 2027 Conni Ingallina PCFR Internship will open on December 7, 2026.
The Spring internship will begin January 17, 2027. Additional semester dates and application details will be provided when applications open.

Student Fellowship
The Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations (PCFR) Student Fellows Program is a prestigious opportunity for graduate students at Arizona State University with a demonstrated interest in international affairs, foreign policy, or related fields.
Each year, PCFR selects two Student Fellows for the academic year:

One fellowship is reserved for a Thunderbird School of Global Management graduate student.

One fellowship is reserved for an ASU doctoral (PhD) or research-focused graduate student.
Applicants must be enrolled in their respective graduate program for the full academic year to be eligible. Students must also be eligible to work off campus for compensation or be able to receive academic credit for their participation in the fellowship.
Students may reside anywhere in Arizona. Accommodations will be made to support selected fellows who live outside the Greater Phoenix area.
This highly selective, year-long fellowship is designed for students who intend to remain in the Greater Phoenix area after completing their degree and are interested in contributing to Arizona’s growing international community. Fellows will support strategic research and projects for Arizona’s premier global affairs organization while gaining meaningful professional experience and exposure to the field.
Fellows receive access to PCFR’s full calendar of programs, featuring influential leaders in global politics, diplomacy, research, law, business, and other international fields. Throughout the fellowship, students will also have opportunities to interact with and learn from PCFR members, including diplomats, business leaders, academics, and other international affairs professionals.
Time Commitment
Fellows should expect to dedicate approximately 10–15 hours per week to the fellowship, including PCFR programs, research and writing, meetings, and assigned projects. Weekly hours may vary depending on PCFR’s program calendar and fellowship assignments.
Expectations for Fellows
Selected PCFR Student Fellows are expected to:

Actively participate in PCFR programming. Attend at least 75% of PCFR programs throughout the fellowship year, both in person and virtually, and prepare brief written memos recapping select programs.

Produce one high-level analytical article. Research and write one article on international affairs topics of the fellow’s choice. Topics may connect global issues to Arizona’s business, diplomatic, or international environment or explore another area of particular interest to the fellow. Fellows are expected to conduct substantive research and, when appropriate, interviews. They will work closely with the Fellowship Coordinator to develop, edit, and prepare both pieces for publication.

Contribute to PCFR projects and operations. Maintain active engagement with PCFR leadership and staff and contribute to strategic projects, particularly those involving research, analysis, programming, and organizational priorities.

Engage with the PCFR community. Fellows are expected to take an active role in building relationships within PCFR’s network. This includes:

Introducing themselves and engaging with members at programs and events throughout the season.

Proactively connecting with members whose professional backgrounds or expertise align with their academic and career interests.

Communicating their professional and academic interests to the Fellowship Coordinator so PCFR can help facilitate meaningful connections and opportunities throughout the year.
